Soody is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience combining law, science, engineering, and business management in start-ups and established environments.
Soody is the founder and principal at Soody Tronson Law Group, located in Silicon Valley and specializing in providing patent, technology, and corporate transaction services to a wide range of industries including life sciences, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, sustainable energy, semiconductors, and software.
Representative clients include private and public companies, as well as entrepreneurs and investors.

Before starting her own private practice, Soody practiced law as IP Counsel at Silicon Valley offices of prominent national law firms and in-house at the Hewlett-Packard Company. Soody was General Counsel and Vice President of Intellectual Property at a successfully acquired medical device start up company where she was responsible for all legal matters including regulatory, clinical trials, corporate transactions (e.g., acquisition, merger), manufacturing, licensing and partnering transactions, employment issues, and development of strategies for dispute resolution and litigation.
Before starting her legal career, she spent several years in the industry holding technical and management positions at companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Schering-Plough. Her extensive experience enables counseling of clients in the areas of life sciences, medical devices, and high technology. Based on the range of her experience she is well accustomed to challenges facing emerging as well as mature companies.
In addition to her own practice, Soody also serves in Of Counsel capacity with other firms, including Royse Law Firm in Palo Alto, and consults with several companies. She is on the advisory board of several organizations including, the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Licensing Executive Society (LES-SVC) and the Association for the Sports and Athlete Professionals. She instructs courses in IP and licensing at the University of California. She serves as a mentor at the Stanford Technology Venture Formation Program, is an advisor with Astia, and volunteers her services at local non-profit organizations. She is also an inventor on patent applications and issued patents.
Soody holds a J.D. and M.S.; and is licensed to practice before the State of California and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
